The pictures of so many schoolchildren buried in the
rubble at the epicenter of China's worst earthquake in
Xichuan Province moved my wife to tears a few times.

In the town of WenChuan, the worst hit area, only
2,000 over people survive out of a total of 10,000.
Mom's tears,Pa's tear's, wives' tears and husbands'
tears, kids' corpses, they tear the heart out of the
toughest people
.
Mass media in the West are taking a kinder approach to
China this time, they say China is doing a much better
job rescuing the victims, mobilizing faster, more open
to foreign aids, unlike the Myanmar government.

Hopefully these better efforts would save more lives.

Does the name of one of the disaster center sound
familiar to you? Jian Du Yen?

Our Class 61' tour group stood in front of the gate
of Jian Du Yen for group pictures last year, after
crossing the dam construction of China's oldest and
grandest dam structure over the Min Jiang.

In the nearby area of Uolong which is the reserve of
Panda bears, many foreign tourists are now trapped,
including may be a few hundred Malaysians.

Luckily, the Three Gorges Dam -the world's largest
engineering project-where we also visited has stood
intact. It was built to withstand earthquakes with
the power of 10, how lucky and farsighted the
engineers and leaders!

I was told the power of the earthquake that hit
Xichuan was like the explosion of 200 atomic bombs!!

Nature still rules.
