In her professional life, Ann has had encountered many forms of deviant social behaviour in hospital. I dare also say she has seen more real human body parts in health, in disease, and in mutilated forms than any of us in Class61:
She is one of the most caring people I have ever-known. The care she gives sometimes reached the point of hurting herself. It shows in the way she pain-takingly tailored treatment regimens of stem cell transplant for her patients with haematology malignancy. I can also cite how she cared in GHKL for the victims of May 13 in 1969. In addition, she cares also for the wellbeing of those who come in contact with her socially.
At work, her toughness with kindness has certainly won her many emotional attachments, chocolates and flowers. She and her team divert people's blood, separate it into components, take some of them out, and return the rest back to their system. She and her team also do stem cell therapy which is exact and complex. People die if things go wrong. If Hong Hee needed to kick people's ass so that no explosion occurred in Shell's plants, her toughness in the hospital is well justified.
Chong Lee
I have slowed down a lot and feel tired easily due perhaps to age,
Just as most of us would say in this stage of our life: "Remember in those days... (Or once upon a time...).."
Yes, I could no longer work 72 hours non stop without feeling
tired like what I did during May 13 incident in 1969 while I was working in
GHKL.

Welcome on board! That was what I said to Er Kok Leong when he joined us at our weekly gathering at Ikea Cafe at Mutiara this morning.
Most of us are now living free and easy, doing what we care to do at our own pace.
Except, may be , Chang Er who is still very much engaged in his medical research and international forums. An Fu, in his biological research and Kuan Lee Yee, who is still managing a large public transport company in Toronto.
And Lee Hui Mien too, who is running a slimming and cosmetic business and of course my poor Engchoon wife who-conforming 100 percent to the Engchoon spirit- has chosen work as her enjoyment rather than rest for her old age.
Just two days ago, a few parents were making noise at her second childcare centre complaining about a 70-year-old man carrying their kids from the kintergarden to her centre."He is too old, how can he fetch our kids?" They grumbled.
While the younger teachers at the centre were in panic, she rushed to the centre and settled the issue on the spot,to the satisfaction of everybody.
At the same time, I was enjoying my coffee in a coffeeshop.
She likes that kind of challenge and she is used to chat about it at night as I fall asleep.
Well, I believe if you really enjoy doing it and if physically and mentally you can still handle it, it is ok. That way, you feel life is more fulfilling.
Looking at the members of Class 61 who have retired, one thing stands out very obviously: most served one employer from the beginning until the retirement.
Chow Sien, Meng Leng, Kim Ping, Yi Tung, Lily, Kok Leong, Chin Wah and even Chang Er, Wee Ching and An Fu have never left the fields they started with.
Is this the feature/traditiion of CHHS graduates?Loyalty and dedication to their respective professions kept them on,that is the only explainatin as they no longer have to worry about bringing up their children.
Cheers to those who have retired and cheers to those who still soldier on and enjoying it, life is how you choose to make it.
I really like my cup of coffee.
