Heaving read our top 10-event for the year 2008 as reported earlier, I really marvelled our this 61 CHHS group. They were energetic that no wonder even the outsiders also admired and attracted to their activities. Possibly, I may equate our class 61 CHHS group as "Senior wargamas" club, since all of us have marched in to their 60s, so as to gain more respects and privileges in our society.

I actually would like to add in two affiliated minor activities taken place outstation last July and August i.e. (a) the durian tasting session in Raub, Pahang, and (b) the Yik Tong sister's orchard visit in Linggi, N. Sembilan. Other than having so much choices of variety of fruits, the trips have also brought us back physically to the kampong life even with a short half day stay. It has a good change in our dull urban living.

While enjoying our delicious potluck dinner, we found that Chin Hwa who retired on 31/12/2008, has stayed on to his Lee Rubber Co. job for 45 years. His first job is the last job. We also found out that Lily has a long teaching career for 43 years. Who say such a life long employment is only owned and characterised by the Japanese?!

Finally, our big countdown ushering the new 2009 year by watching the firework right in front of the 20th floor of Hong Hee condominium. It was so near, so clear and so colourfully exciting. The most attractive firework I have ever witnessed. HAPPY, BRIGHT AND COLOURFUL 2009 new year to every body.

Our excitement alerted our good old classmate Chang Er who was deep asleep far in Sydney, Australia. He was connected through phone and he could not withhold his happyness by shouting HAPPY NEW YEAR to every body.

Last but not least, I think owe our great SYABAS support to our 3 pillar-members Hong Hee, Thai Heng and Cheong Hiang. Give them a thumb-up credit, really without them our scheduled activities would not be that successful.

Regards,
Chen Chin Peng

Wargaemas! What a nice name for us old folks! This morning at the Selayang Hospital pharmacy, I saw one of the counters had a plate hung above it: Wargaistimewa, I assumed that was for the senior citizens, not bad too.

This year I will try to join any such outing for fruits organised by Chen Ping. I am sure it must be great fun for the wargaemas or wargaistimewa!
